About The Event

Join us for a special one off screening of 'Free Party - A folk history' "They wanted the freedom to party. The state saw them as the enemy within. The untold story of the largest ever illegal rave, Castlemorton (Woodstock for the Rave generation), the Criminal Justice Bill and the free party movement."

More than 30 years have passed since the historic Castlemorton rave. The criminal justice bill continues to evolve and tighten, not only restricting the free party movement but also spreading to the right to protest against ongoing genocides and the climate crisis. 🔊At 99p films we think everyone needs to have a safe and welcoming space, not only to watch documentary films but a place where we can dance and party despite the mess the world is in around us.

🕺💃To move our bodies, connect on the dance floor and listen to tunes that make us tickle and twinkle. Join us for a film night, starting with a shared feast supporting British regenerative growers, cooked by a Syrian chef, watching an entertaining film and concluding with an audience led chit chat about it all (and potentially a little boogie at the end... we'll see what the Bank say) 🪩We're delighted to be supported by the Film Hub South West and the BFI for this film. Part of their 'RIP IT UP' programme which is all about getting the youth involved in watching films around rebellion and activism and everything that wraps around it! We're also collaborating with 'The Cottage' on this one, promoting this film at their epic bi-yearly cottage party on the 12th of September. We look forward to welcoming their incredible community and members (some of which were heavily involved in the free party movement) to this screening!
