About The Event
The current conflict affecting Palestinians and Israelis is a matter of great concern. At home, our MPs have chosen to vote against a ceasefire, and the loss of innocent lives continues. We will be hosting our signature 99p social cinema event on the 13th of December at the Cornish Bank, featuring the feature length documentary 'Gaza' released in 2019.
'Gaza' gives us an insight into the people who are experiencing life under Israeli occupation, the daily struggles and challenges they face. We all too often get consumed by political, religious or historical debates and forget those directly impacted. 'Gaza' provides a voice to those affected.
This screening will serve as a fundraiser, with all profits going towards MAP - Medical Aid Palestine, an organization dedicated to the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees.
We want to be clear about our stance.
We show complete solidarity and empathy for all those affected and killed in the conflict, including Israeli civilians, Gazan civilians, and the Palestinian population who have endured occupation and apartheid for decades.
We believe that addressing the connection between war and profit is essential for lasting peace.
We condemn violence and harmful tactics employed by all parties in the conflict. Our advocacy is for human rights, embracing both the Palestinian and Israeli people who have shown respect and solidarity for each other.
Following the screening, we will facilitate a discussion, recognizing the difficulty of addressing this complex issue. All attendees have the right to speak and share their thoughts, but we urge everyone to be considerate and respectful. We will not tolerate any bullying, foul language, or harassment.
Let's come together as a community, support each other, listen, and share—acknowledging that our commonalities outweigh our differences."
