About The Event
We're delighted to be working alongside Cornwall Pride in this partnership 'Social Cinema' screening of the fantastic film 'Pride' (2014)
"Pride is a 2014 historical comedy-drama film written by Stephen Beresford and directed by Matthew Warchus. Based on a true story, it depicts a group of lesbian and gay activists who raised money to help families affected by the British miners' strike in 1984 at the outset of what would become the Lesbians and Gays Support the Minerscampaign." It's a true example of mutual solidarity across various demographics and is exactly what we need more of in society today when so many people are still struggling from hate & abuse, be that homophobic, racial, xenophobic ...
Cornwall PRIDE promotes diversity, inclusion, and acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community in Cornwall by bringing together people from all walks of life.
Their awareness campaigns help to break down barriers and build bridges between different communities.
Eleven annual pride events in Cornwall also raise awareness of LGBTQ+ issues and create spaces for people to celebrate their identity and show their support for one another.
Cornwall Pride benefits the communities of Cornwall by promoting equality, acceptance, and unity, and by providing an opportunity for people to come together and celebrate diversity. Food: The food on the night will be sourced from wholesale British farmers such as Hodmedods and local Cornish Market gardens. This produce will then be cooked by a Syrian Refugee, Iman, sharing her culinary skills with her new home Cornwall! *Please note this film is rated a 15 with strong language & sex references*
We look forward to welcoming you all on the 14th for an evening of Food, Film and Community
